Our Story

Hello! We’re Megan & Blake Powell, and we own and operate Nourished Farms!

Nourished Farms is a small, cut flower farm located in Maywood, MO. We’re only 15 minutes west of downtown Quincy, IL. Our farm is small, but we sure can pump out the blooms! We’re able to intensively farm on less than an acre, and we do it all by hand. It was never an option for us to use chemicals or pesticides, so everything we do is completely natural and organic. We take pride in our sustainable growing practices. And to top it off, our flowers are absolutely gorgeous!

What started as a dream back in 2017 is now our reality. While Blake served in the US Navy, we got to live in some pretty neat places. When living in California and Colorado, we were exposed to small, organic farming and there was an instant connection for us with this style of growing. We visited many different farms and even got to volunteer at a few!

In May of 2020, we took a risk and moved back to Missouri to purchase a home and some land, and we dove head first into starting our little farm from scratch. Blake was able to take horticulture classes through SEMO while we got our farm up and running. We started out growing vegetables and herbs but have fully transitioned to exclusively farming cut flowers. In July of 2024, we relocated our farm from SEMO to NEMO due to a job opportunity for Blake. He accepted a position as soil conservationist for the NRCS at the USDA office in Palmyra, MO. He’s very excited to be back in his hometown! (He’s a panther at heart and graduated from Palmyra in 2008.)

Growing flowers has taught us so much, and we cannot wait to provide our new community with the freshest blooms around!!!

We hope that you get a chance to snag one of our bouquets soon!
